LBS EXCHANGE PROGRAM – ANOTHER STUDENT PERSPECTIVE

Written on May 31, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

Hubertus Halmburguer, current student of the Master in International Management class of 2010, shares his experience during the LBS Exchange Program:

“The academic theme of the “Global Markets & Entrepreneurship” was supported by company visits to some of the leading companies in their industries in London and Madrid.

Further, the exchange with LBS allowed us to collaborate with one of the most prestigious business schools in the world and its well-rounded students. The “multicultural differences” showed me that Master in International Management students at IE Business School have a settled team approach, very familiar with one another, which reflects IE culture in an excellent way.

Because both groups consisted of a wide range of students with different origins and backgrounds, the time was outstanding in terms of exchanging experience, planning future projects and enjoying both locations.

In general I can say that the exchange provided all participants the possibility, to get the best out of it. A glamorous chance for students of both business schools to network, find friends for life, and business partners for the future.”

During the specialization phase of the Master in International Management program, students are offered the opportunity to embark on the Global Immersion Week, an optional week long trip to places* such as Singapore, San Francisco, or London to gain greater international awareness and experiences, providing several opportunities for students to learn more about doing business on a global scale.

* Locations might vary from intake to intake depending on demand of students and availability of slots.

Extra-Curricular Activities at IE Business School

Written on May 24, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

At IE Business School we give our students the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities. Once your place reservation has been received, you will be granted access to the Student Office and all the different clubs that we have.

There are more than 60 clubs at IE including academic, regional, sports, and affinity clubs. A few of the most popular are: Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Football, Basketball, Skiing, Gourmet, Wine Tasting, Salsa, Japan, Mexico, Italian and Net Impact Club.

Students get together and organize fun activities within their clubs and use the opportunity to meet new people, network and enrich their CVs with leadership and other extra-curricular achievements.

If you are interested in a very specific club that is not listed, you can make a proposal and create your own club and invite other students to join. This would be an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and determination.

IE Raises funds for Japan

Written on March 24, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

The earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9 on the Richter scale and the massive tsunami which struck Japan on March 11th 2011 had a devastating effect on the country and sadly, even today we are still hearing of increasing numbers of victims.  The current situation is bleak – over half a million people are homeless and running low on food and supplies, 18,000 are expected to be dead or missing, and the country’s financial loss is speculated to be US$309 billion.

IE Business School has carried out various initiatives to raise funds to help those in need in Japan…

IE Japan Club (run by current Japanese International MBA students) is organizing a number of activities. For example, donation boxes have been placed in IE buildings and are receiving warm support from students. All funds raised will be sent to Japan Red Cross in Tokyo.

IE Lebanon Club with the support of IE Spain Club, organized a Donation Campaign last Tuesday in partnership with a local restaurant to help raise funds. The restaurant gave a portion of revenues gained on this day to IE to donate to  Japan.

IE Alumni Association is taking advantage of IE’s extensive network to raise funds for Japan, spreading the message to over 40,000 people in more than 100 countries.
