Exam Week at IE

Written on April 8, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

The hallways and study rooms at IE’s Castellon de la Plana 8 building are flooded with students and teams from the different MIM sections preparing final Group Projects and studying for finals. One of the objectives of the program is to see how well students can respond under pressure and handle tight schedules and deadlines just like in a real business environment. Team work, planning, multitasking and excellent time management skills are essential during this period. Each student picks their own preparation style for the exams, either by studying in groups or individually. Either way, it is visible that it is a very busy time for the Master in International Management students.

Get ready to wait in line because the coffee machine is going to be packed…

Breaking the Mold in Africa – Multimedia Case

Written on March 30, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

At IE Business School we always look for ways to innovate and are consistently developing new business cases that are relevant to current global issues. Economics professor, Dr. Gayle Allard, recently developed a multimedia case on Africa, which enables students to improve the economy of an African country through simulation by applying different economic policies. The case  incorporates a wide range of topics including governance, infrastructure, trade, NGOs, aid and development.

You can view the multimedia case here: http://multimedia.ie.edu//productos/africa/demo_alum.html

Multimedia cases and simulations are just one of the interactive tools used by our faculty in order to enrich the learning experience of our students. Through these tools, students are able to experience real cases and situations from the global business world.

IE Raises funds for Japan

Written on March 24, 2011 by MIM Blog in News

The earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9 on the Richter scale and the massive tsunami which struck Japan on March 11th 2011 had a devastating effect on the country and sadly, even today we are still hearing of increasing numbers of victims.  The current situation is bleak – over half a million people are homeless and running low on food and supplies, 18,000 are expected to be dead or missing, and the country’s financial loss is speculated to be US$309 billion.

IE Business School has carried out various initiatives to raise funds to help those in need in Japan…

IE Japan Club (run by current Japanese International MBA students) is organizing a number of activities. For example, donation boxes have been placed in IE buildings and are receiving warm support from students. All funds raised will be sent to Japan Red Cross in Tokyo.

IE Lebanon Club with the support of IE Spain Club, organized a Donation Campaign last Tuesday in partnership with a local restaurant to help raise funds. The restaurant gave a portion of revenues gained on this day to IE to donate to  Japan.

IE Alumni Association is taking advantage of IE’s extensive network to raise funds for Japan, spreading the message to over 40,000 people in more than 100 countries.
