IE Business School and Fundación Ramón Areces, founded by Ramón Areces Rodriguez, who is also the founder of the legendary Spanish department store El Corte Inglés,  have partnered up to offer IE Business School students the opportunity to attend lectures on political science, economics and business by top faculty from around the world.

This year’s lecture series focuses on the topic “Entrepreneurship and growth: an international perspective,” and was kicked off on January 16, 2012, by Sheila M. Puffer, who delivered a talk on Emerging innovation in an emerging economy: Can Russia break through its historical barriers?

Future conferences in the lecture series will focus on entrepreneurship in various emerging markets, including China, India, Brazil and Turkey. More information about all the upcoming lectures can be found on the Fundación Ramón Areces website.

Sheila M. Puffer is University Professor and Cherry Family Senior Fellow of International Business at Northeastern University, Boston, USA. She has been recognized as the #1 scholar internationally in business and management in Russia, the former Soviet Union, and Eastern Europe according to a 2005 Journal of International Business Studies.
